A. CdS Coordination passes from RAED to EEB

MIO-ECSDE would like to thank RAED for the coordination work carried out during the last 6 months on behalf of the Comite de Suivi. Their coordination of CdS activities started on July 1st 1999 and lasted till December 31st 1999. RAED was assigned this task after the CdS Meeting in Brussels on 29th January 1999 where the coordination of CdS activities was decided to be done on a rotational basis by alphabetical order, changing every six months with RAED, being the first on the list.

For the next six months the EEB will be in charge of coordination of the CdS activities.

B.    The Proposal for the MIO-ECSDE Annual Programme

as formulated during the 4th MIO-ECSDE AGM held in Cairo, was submitted to the European Commission before the deadline of January 17th. It is an ambitious programme for year 2000 with an extensive thematology and active synergies with a variety of international and national partners. Hopefully, the positive outcome of the proposal will be communicated to us by May 2000.

C. Invitation for Contributions to the MIO-ECSDE Millennium Issue

All MIO-ECSDE member organisations are welcome to send contributions for the MILLENNIUM issue of the quarterly newsletter Sustainable Mediterranean. The overall theme is: The Mediterranean and the new Millennium. The articles can reflect on the past and on the future, it can be maximum 1000 words and can be written in English or French.

There will also be a section with slogans, thoughts, reflections on the Mediterranean written by famous people (artists, writers, singers, politicians, religious leaders, athletes, etc.). If you can ask anyone who fits the description to contribute a quote or a paragraph and send it to us it would be very helpful.
