This issue of Sustainable Mediterranean is dedicated to the efforts of the Mediterranean Technical Advisory Committee of the Global Water Partnership's Mediterranean Technical Advisory Committee (MEDTAC/GWP) - future GWP-Med -in the development of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) for the sustainable use of freshwater in the Mediterranean, as well as, the particular role MIO-ECSDE has played through its active participation in these efforts. It describes the framework within which developments led to the Mediterranean Conference of Water Stakeholders and Decision-Makers: Towards a Core for Action Plan (held in Athens from 2 to 4 November 2000, organized by MEDTAC and MIO-ECSDE).
