 This publication was
produced in the framework of the efforts of MIO-ECSDE to promote the dialogue between
Mediterranean environmental NGOs and all other relevant partners in order to strengthen
the public participation procedures on environmental issues in the Mediterranean region.
It is hoped to help NGOs, national and local authorities and other bodies interested in
participatory procedures, in organising round tables and public discussions on the issue,
taking into account a number of principles and following practices that have already been
tested and applied in many cases all over the world, including certain Mediterranean
countries, with success.
The booklet is a of 24 page publication and it has been produced in
English and French, in 1500 copies in each language. Its dissemination to NGOs,
governments and institutes and others began in 1998.
